Fosse Villages Neighbourhood Plan

Fosse Villages Neighbourhood Plan

Readers will be aware that the Parish Council together with nine other parishes in the Fosse villages area, embarked upon the production of a Neighbourhood Plan some time ago. The Plan gives the opportunity to residents to play a part, in planning terms, in the determination of their own future. As part of this process a comprehensive consultation exercise was undertaken in 2012 throughout all ten parishes to ensure that the plan accorded, as far as was possible, with the wishes of the residents of these communities.

I am pleased to advise that we are now in a position to embark upon a detailed consultation of the issues and options affecting the area. The consultation, which will be held between 1 March and 31 March 2017 and will involve all individuals, old and young alike, in every household and business in the Plan area. Your questionnaire will include questions both specific to Sapcote and about the overall area of the proposed Plan. An explanatory document entitled Sapcote: Future has been delivered to every property in the Parish and details the process. More than one person per household can complete the questionnaire to ensure that all views are represented. Details of how to take part in the survey are on the back page of the document but are also repeated below.

We recommend that you complete the questionnaire online if at all possible at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/fossevillages or if you cannot do this, via a hard copy which, will be available from, and can be returned to, the Post Office, the Co-op, the library and the Clerk to the Parish Council.

The full Issues and Options document itself, upon which the questionnaire is based, will be available online and can be accessed at www.fossevillages.org. Copies will be placed in the library for perusal. In cases where the Issues and Options document cannot be accessed online, every effort will be made to provide a temporary hard copy.

If you are having any problems in accessing or completing the questionnaire, or if you have any questions about the Issues and Options or general process, someone will be available at Sapcote library on the following dates and times:

Thursday 9 March 2.00 – 5.00 pm
Tuesday 14 March 10.00 am – 12.00 noon and 5.00 -7.00 pm
Tuesday 21 March 5.00 – 7.00 pm
Tuesday 28 March 5.00 – 7.00 pm

Once the responses to the consultation have been analysed a draft Neighbourhood Plan will then be prepared and this again will be available for public comment. The draft Plan will then be submitted to Blaby District Council for assessment to ensure its compliance with the Blaby District Plan. Once it has been confirmed to be in compliance, it will then be submitted to a public referendum vote involving everyone eligible to vote on the electoral roll.

The matters identified in Issues and Options document affect everyone in the Parish so it is important that you complete the questionnaire to ensure that you play a part in shaping the future of Sapcote.
